There has been quite a lot written in the press recently concerning the link between hearing loss and dementia.
A recent study of 2000 participants with hearing loss and MCI ( mild cognitive impairment) revealed that wearing hearing aids slowed the onset of dementia. Previous research has shown that hearing loss increases the risk of dementia by 90%.
Dr Ralph Holme of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People said of dementia ‘This new research supports the growing view that the use of hearing aids may help slow its onset’
