What make of hearing aids

HEARING AID ADVICE

Answering some of the most frequently asked questions about hearing aids

Which Make?

There are so many different types and makes of hearing aids, which are best?

There are roughly about 10 manufacturers of hearing aids, all of which are large Multi National companies. Each manufacturer will produce many different sizes and grades of hearing aids. It is a little bit like buying a car. You can buy the basic model or choose ‘add ons’ which suit. A good retailer should supply from as many different manufactures as possible and advise on a good selection of hearing aids to suit the user and their lifestyle. At U.K. Hearing Centres we supply from ALL the manufacturers.

Life of hearing aids

How long do hearing aids last?

To use the car analogy again, they can last as long as there are parts to fit them! Some people keep hearing aids for 10 + years, others want a newer model after a few years. An average life for a hearing aid should be 5-7 years.

After Care

How often will my hearing aids need servicing?

Aftercare is essential with hearing aids. Most reputable retailers will offer free aftercare with hearing aids to include fine-tuning. Hearing acuity changes with time and therefore hearing aids need adjusting over time. It’s always best therefore in our opinion to purchase hearing aids from a local source. You should have your hearing aids checked every six months. At UK Hearing Centres, this is offered free of charge.
